A question of storage

It's not a question I have ever thought about. In fact apart from 1 storage case I either use some old A4 paper boxes or I use the really useful plastic ones.

However I have been looking to protect my miniatures lately. So it was chance browse on the internet and I can across a company called Just lasered. Not only did they have some cheap storage but they fit into  the real useful boxes.

So I took the plunge and ordered 4 50 man trays to fit 4litre or 9 litre really useful box and a topper. Normally £4.25 but I ordered 2 or more they were only £4.00.
So here is one of the trays with my Congo and a fistful of kung fu miniatures. They fit well.
Some Saga and Gates of Antares miniatures. You have to watch the spears but I didn't see this as a problem.

This is my 20mm Vietnam miniatures and they fir really well and for me this is what I going to use the trays for.
This is my 20mm WW2 Russians collection and I have filled all 4 trays so that's 200 miniatures in a A9 Really Useful box.

They do some different trays as well which I will check out for my Bolt Action Japanese.

Paint table update

Another Saturday and another update.

These miniatures are for the Osprey rules Scrappers. They are from EM4 miniatures and they paint up well. Just used some base colours and dip, then highlighted them up.

Quick update

Unfortunately real life came and stole my hobby time.
Mind you as you can see I did clear my paint table as I just did some painting even if was only 10 minutes here and there.

You can also see I managed to dip a few models including those Japanese.

A week on Monday I am trying out the scrappers rules from Osprey so I will finish those figures.

Paint Table Saturday

Saturday comes around again. Before you know here it's here.

Last week I didn't get a game of Wrath of Kings but I did play Batman the miniatures game.

Twice !!!

I have played it before and I forgot how much I enjoyed it.  So what I have been doing. Well Pikeman's lament is back Monday so I thought I would switch to back to that.

So searching through the loft I found these from the way back time machine. Ottoman Turks from Bearsden Miniatures. I can't tell you how old these must be. It could be 10 years or more. Anyway I have enough to make a big enough force for pikeman's lament.

So why not.

Finally ....

I
I will keep still working away on the Wrath of Kings as well.

Paiint Table Saturday

Another week goes by and I am still working on Wrath of Kings for tonight. I am not going to be finished but the point was to push towards completion.

Sometimes you make it and then other times you don't. I still have a few more hours to go so I will be further ahead. I am not going to beat myself up about it, you just keep plugging away.

I also have another faction to do for Wrath of Kings for which I have more models for. That's why I started with Teknes as I would have never have started them otherwise. I will be able to play a intro and skirmish game for now and when I want to play a battle size game then I will have to use the other faction.

So there is a method in my miniature madness.

Paint Table Saturday

So I have managed to undercoat them and done some work on the base as well as the base colours. I need to paint another thin layer of the base coat. I an not sure they will be totally finished by next week when we play Wrath of Kings again.
I will just keep plugging away.

I find that painting with a deadline in this way helps me focus me to finish a project.

Wrath of Kings

I played my first games Wrath of kind last week which was just the starter set but I have had 2 factions. I have been interested in this games for some time. We managed to play 3 enjoyable games, So I need to paint some of my own figures with the above from the Teknes faction. More photos below.

Paint Table Saturday

Well another Saturday comes around. Its been a funny week. Pushed on with the Japanese but came unstuck as I have run out of army painter quick shade. I didn't run our more that it became a solid. I tried in vain to fix it but in the end I had to chuck it out.

The ECW pike I finished as well but I ran out of 25mm circular bases.

Like I said.

Its been a funny week.

Paint Table Saturday

I managed to finish the ECW crew and guns which has meant I can move more on to the paint table queue. There is plenty of more to move forward once I get through the next lot.

Paint Table Saturday

So I didn't do anything the previous week hence no post but last week managed to finish the ECW artillery figures, Priority is to paint the guns. I also added some details to the unit of pike so hopefully I can finish them both this week.

Paint Table Saturday

Not much progress. Mojo went missing but sticking with the ECW. If I don't it will be just another project not finished. My focus this year is all about finishing those projects that I have started.

Chain of command

So it was time to try out the Chain of Command rules. I had them for awhile but never got around to it.

However its had some cracking coverage on Beasts of War lately and the lets play video peaked my interest once more.

So why not. Lets give it a try.
The table set up. Just a small russian village.

The German drop off points.
The Russian drop off points. The German player had to reach the one at the back. My job was to stop him.
My other drop of point where I dropped my first infantry unit.
Craig brought on his Stug.
He also brought on a infantry team.
I moved my infantry team forward.
I deployed another team at the building on the other side but took some fire.

My T34 came on managed to spook his tank,
So much so he ran off and hid.
The German infantry moved forward towards the building.
My T34 moved forward too. With STUG hidden it was time for some HE.
I didn't do much damage now that the German infantry were made into the building.
This German unit was beginning to take some shock but I was too.

Quite a bit actually. I was starting to buckle.
My other infantry started to do the same so it was only gonna be a matter of time.

So that was it for Chain of Command. It was good for a first try and we both liked it. It plays really well. So the plan is to keep playing every 2 weeks. Its the only way to learn the rules. Too many times we play once maybe twice but that's it.

This game doesn't deserve that. Its too good a game.
